As for the crystal clear sound quality that never happened. Based on the majority of positive reviews of the ER22C I expected to have crystal clear sound quality with some comfort trade off because of the ear piece design.In reality, I was almost right about the ear piece. Almost being the degree of discomfort with that thing jammed in my ear made for short and infrequent calls. not once. Maybe my expectations were too high but I sent mine back and picked the ear bud that came with my iPhone which is comfortable and works fine.
This type of headset is what I've found to be the best for me. Voice quality, volume, less background noise. I don't care if I look like a goofball walking around with a wired headset. it's the quality that I care about.
Will bite the bullet for a viable bluetooth device when appropriate. I have to constantly raise my voice to be heard. Wish they would make the dang boom long enough to reach within.5" of my mouth. My physical dimensions make this not that good of an option. Why couldn't they have given it just a little bit longer of a boom.Bad investment - for another 30 - 50 $$ could have gotten a decent bluetooth device. $45 for this was a waste.
The noise canceling is extremely efficient. I was driving 80mph with the windows down, the radio blasting and no one I talked to could tell. Very pleased.
I went through a large batch of wired headsets (actually for Xbox 360 use rather than with a cell phone), and while they all failed in various ways, this one was perhaps the most disappointing. This can be avoided to an extent by getting a very tight seal in your ear canal, but even then I was only able to get 5-10 minutes of usage before realizing that the person on the other end could no longer hear me as the mic had dipped below my chin. The sound quality seemed quite good in both directions, and during my brief usage period it seemed fairly solidly built.The major problem was that it was impossible to get the headset to stay positioned correctly. It is held in place solely by the fit of the canalphone inside your ear, and with the boom mic's weight it will constantly twist downward even if you're not on the move. I'm not sure how anyone could use it and not experience this behavior.Other similar products by other manufacturers all have some type of support mechanism, such as an ear clip, which would solve the problem here. However, the shape of the ear piece made it seem impossible to jerry rig something myself, and so it went back to Amazon.
